ur generation has gotten so used to whining and complaining about our friends and family especially when they don’t meet up to our standards.

Have you ever considered praying for them?

Will Jesus find you waiting for him on behalf of your friends??

You can ask the question “how does pray works in this situation?” but when our friends and family show off bad habits that break our hearts, it is not them at work. It is the enemy of their soul who is here to kill, to steal, and to destroy. And as we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers of darkness in high places, our place of wrestling is in prayers.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.Ephesians 6:12

I remember a definition of prayer that one of my favorite teachers taught me in secondary school and it is always ringing in my heart; prayer is the art of communicating with God. When we pray we surrender ourselves to God and ask him to take over and fight our battles for us. When you commune with God you surrender to him and allow him to take his place. And when God takes his place in the battle over your friend’s life, you can be sure of victory. That’s why we have a prayer of intercession. Intercession unites our hearts to people and places we pray for. You do not only intercede for people you don’t know but also for people you know and have a close relationship with them.

If you preach to them and they don’t accept doesn’t mean they stop being your family and because they are still your family you have a responsibility for them. Because they are still around you, you are responsible for their salvation. You are not a figure-head family member, you have a purpose in your family and in your group of friends. You are not just meant to spend money on your friends, spend your spiritual currency on them.

Settle their matters in the secret place knowing so well that they will never know you are the one who prayed for them but the goal is for them to see the light. Remember that scripture that talks about when you give your left hand should not know what your right hand is giving. That is exactly what happens when you spend spiritual currency on your friends and family.

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:3–4

It’s very easy for us to cast accusing fingers and looks at people whom we expect so much from, but have you considered praying for them that they will meet up to God’s expectations as your expectation is not the standard. Pray for them and don’t stop. Your expression of love for them should be felt in the place of prayer.

I’ve been in situations when I’ve asked for prayers from some friends and some friends always remind me that they are praying for me and when I show the result of what they prayed for, they may or may not tell me but I’m sure there is a smile on their face with thanks to God for coming through.

Everyone wants a praying partner, do you have a praying habit in the first place? Or you are waiting for that person to come and instill a praying habit in you. Your partner can only increase the intensity of your habit, they can’t create a new habit for you. Remember iron sharpeneth iron, iron cannot sharpen plastic or wood. It is either it goes blunt from the plastic or it destroys the wood.

Pray for the people you love.
