Traffic in Lagos and Survival
She woke up on a Monday morning determined to work from the office as opposed to the agreed work-from-home system that her company is currently operating.
For the past few days, she has been troubled because of the abrupt termination of the power supply(all thanks to EKEDC), and so she found it difficult to sleep well at night.
The termination would affect her productivity at work as she depends on that power supply to be productive at home as per working from home.
She tossed to and fro on the couch where she passed the night because she didn’t want to get too comfortable with the sleep and end up waking up late to get ready for work which might have happened if she had slept on the bed.
The last time she worked from the office was about 30 days ago, and if not for the termination of the power supply, she might not have considered going to work from the office at all.
The previous night, she had picked our outfit for work but forgot to clean her shoes, her laptop was still somewhere far away from her bag, her notepads and pen were still enjoying their break on her work table, in fact, the only thing that showed that she was ready to go to the office was the dress she had picked out.
For someone who was so adamant about working from the office despite being advised against it by a friend because of the traffic, you would assume that she had everything checked, but the reverse is the case.
She woke up and started packing her bag, laptop, notepad, pens, chargers, cardigan because of the Air Conditioner at the office, and finally, she had to use the bathroom. Because of the power termination, no water from the tap and she had to use the alternative which was the water from the well.
After bathing, dressing up, now it’s time to hustle for the fare. It was the end of the month and her salary had not been paid, so she was as broke as anything you can think of and don’t forget that she had been working from home so there was no plan to work from the office.
She was ready to leave for work and so, she left with a determination to get to the office and work from there.
But to her surprise, Lagos traffic had a different plan for her and she wasn’t ready for this plan and package. Traffic in Lagos will humble!
She took the first bus to the next bus-top, from there, she took another bus, and while on the move, first traffic, Gbam.
She got off the bus, walked few steps to get an alternative bus. Finally got one to a closer bus stop, which she took, meanwhile remember she hustled for transport fare before she left home.
So, she was already running short of time and money, but she was determined to make it to the office that morning. She could no longer bear the traffic, so she got down and started seeking alternatives, like co-working space around her current location. It turned out they were yet to be open for business.
Left with no other option, she opted to return home. On her way home, she remembered one of her friends who lives close by was working from home, perfect! She reached out to her friend and confirmed she could work with him for the day.
As soon as she reached the entrance of her home, power was suddenly restored and with screams of joy, she ran to connect her gadgets to the power source and that was how she had a successful work from home experience that day and forgot all her worries earlier in the day.
This is the same way God wants you to come and enjoy the bliss of loving him, regardless of your past experiences (good or bad). He wants you to put aside what you’ve heard other people say about you and your decisions, and focus on what he says and thinks of you and trust me, he thinks highly of you, more than you can ever imagine.
He wants you to ignore the traffic in the world and focus on how he makes all things beautiful in his time. You don’t have to run around looking for solutions on your own when someone else has already made provisions for all that you need.
See, he does not want you to figure life on your own when he had already created a blueprint for you to follow. This is all he requires of you:
because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Beyond the blueprint of your life, he wants to enjoy intimacy with you, he wants to dwell in you and make your life his place of habitation.
